Music... best title I can think of

Spencer has been riding me about posting his lesson so I hope I make him proud.
Spencer taught about music. He told us that music can be a great thing as well as something EVIL. For those of you how know me you know music is a huge thing in my life so this lesson intrigued me more than any lesson we have had and probably more then any more we will have.
We were asked what kind of music we like. Everybody said rock a few said screamo :D. So he focused all his power on the rock and roll area of music. He asked us why we liked it. We got various answers, I agreed with some; from it pumps me up to it helps me focus. Spencer followed this by telling us about Elvis and at the end he asked me if I knew how he died I replied by saying, "He over dosed and died on the can eating a jelly filled donut" he said all I needed was the O.D. part but OK so he told us how the roots of something will affect it until it makes it prosper or until it kills it. Which was and is right. But we have to remember how far we have come from the days of Elvis and the Beatles. We now have bands that range from underOath to white chapel. Our music can sound the same but have totally different meanings underOath sings about fighting through persecution at the same time white chapel sings about persecuting. So I asked Spencer doesn't it say in the Bible music is a gift from God ? He said yes. So I said, as long as what they are singing is not a sin. He said i guess so. So music can and can not be a sin.

Later on Spencer talked about music and the effects on other living organisms. He told us there was a box with a tube that led to another box an one box they played Bach in the other box they played acid rock (Screamo) and the mice went to the room playing Bach then the boxes switched music and the rats went over to the other box. Another study is they put hamsters into a box and played Maiden and the hamsters killed each other (that's inhumane ). Spencer likes these test things because we had a third it was when plants were placed in a room with classical music it grew quickly but when placed in a room playing metal it withered and died (that is awesome). After that we prayed and played football.

To sum it up music can be good or bad depends on the people and the meaning behind it.
Spencer... Mortar teacher extraordinaire.

Thermometers & Thermostats

Howdy everyone! So very sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. I promise to begin being more consistent .

On the second which was a Monday we had a lesson from Richard. He taught us about not having to blend in with our surroundings and how it is a lot of the time better to stand out.
This is how the lesson started he asked us how thermometers worked so I want you to answer that........ OK now you probably thought that they change to what is around them. The same thing happens to some Christians people. Sometimes they change to their surroundings if they're surrounded by on fire believers they will act on fire, if they're around sinners they will most likely sin. They do this to get a sense of security from persecution but we should not fear persecution because it won't come from true friends and if it comes from strangers it honestly should not matter for we need only one thing in our life and that is a healthy relationship with Jesus if that happens all things should and most likely will be good in our lives.

Now think of a thermostat what does it do?....... OK what i came up with was they change the surroundings. Richard told me they also can't be changed by other things except for by the masters hand (God). So a thermostat Christan will not fear persecution and will stand up to it knowing it will strengthen them. A thermostat Christan will change a room of evil into a room of light. Hate into love. Sinning into worship.

So to sum it up who you want to be at school, work, home, or even at McDonald's. A beacon of light in a dark world or do you just wish to help thicken this plague of evil that continues to sweep this world.

GOOD Bad Down right delicious Straight up Richard

ABOLISH SLAVERY

Rochel Potter came to teach the Jr. highers to the young adults about slavery and how it still exist today. Today there are more slaves than ever.

Imagine going to New York City every single person you see is in some form of slavery, that is the third largest city in the world. There are more slaves than the whole population of New York City.

Most slaves come from third world countries and don't have money so they try getting a better life for themselves not knowing they will be in a much worse situation then they were originally were. They don't run because they know that the slave owners will hurt or kill their family because they have all their information so there is nothing they can do.

Some people when they are born were made disfigured so they can't escape from their slaves and they are forced to beg. If they don't meet the quota for the day they get beaten this also applies for thousands of little kids, some as young as four years old . Others are forced into into the sex industry or they have to pick fruits and vegetable, they do every type of job.

The break down of people in slavery are 80% of slaves are woman 10% babies 5% men and boys 5% girls

Luckily there is several things we can do... first if we think someone is in slavery we can call the human trafficking hotline 1-888-3737-888. We can also educate ourselves on this. But one of the most important is to pray I now that sounds like whoop dedoo pray, but if there is one thing I know prayer works and we all can do it. With your help we can topple this giant.
